Empowering Every Child's Potential
Guiding children to overcome learning and sensory hurdles with compassionate and expert care
The Learning Triangle
Welcome to our neurodevelopment center — a warm and supportive environment dedicated to guiding children through the challenges of learning, behavior, and sensory experiences.
Neurodevelopmental therapy is a non-invasive programme of movements which aims to promote development of the nervous system and the inhibition of primitive reflexes. By incorporating movements which are used naturally by a baby and a young child, the nervous system is gently encouraged to mature and become more open to learning. This sets the stage for a child's holistic progress, influencing their performance in academics, sports, and social settings.
Ann Steemers is founder of The Learning Triangle and has been working in the field of child neurodevelopment since 2006. She is a neurodevelopmental therapist and a Johansen sound therapy practitioner with a degree in Neurophysiology. She works with children to help them reach their full potential, both educationally and socially. She is a member of the Irish Association of Neurodevelopmental Therapists of Ireland.
Neurodevelopment therapy can help some adults as well — those with anxiety and panic disorders. Get in touch for more information.
Pathways to Bright Beginnings
Building a Solid Foundation for Your Child's Future
Boosting Movement and Coordination
Neurodevelopmental therapy employs targeted exercises and activities to enhance your child's muscle tone, balance, and overall movement coordination. By addressing specific motor challenges, the therapy facilitates improved mobility, making it simpler for your child to navigate daily activities such as walking, running, and playing. The goal is to build a solid foundation for physical skills, fostering independence in movement.
Making Senses Work Together
In neurodevelopmental therapy, a key focus is on improving how your child processes sensory information—what they see, hear, and feel. By addressing sensory issues, the therapy aims to create a more harmonious integration of sensory input. This can result in increased attention, improved behavior, and better social interaction. Essentially, the therapy helps your child better understand and respond to the world around them, enhancing their overall sensory-motor skills.
Building Independence in Everday Tasks
Neurodevelopmental therapy is designed to empower your child to accomplish daily tasks independently. Whether it's getting dressed, engaging in play, or communicating effectively, the therapy targets specific skills needed for greater self-sufficiency. By providing tools and strategies, the therapy supports your child's ability to actively participate in their daily life. The focus extends beyond addressing immediate challenges to fostering a foundation for ongoing independence in various aspects of their routine.
"As a parent of twin daughters, who were late in their diagnosis of dyslexia and auditory processing difficulty, we were truly fortunate to find the services that Ann offers. The girls started a sound therapy programme in second year with Ann, which was delivered in a most professional, efficient, caring and friendly manner. It was a great worry that the girls would fall further behind in school. However, the individual focus of the sound programme they did, really helped them excel in their Junior Cert Examination, and still continue to do so well. They are also motivated to learn and their confidence has increased. I couldn’t recommend Ann highly enough for anyone seeking help in these areas." — Majella
Our Therapies
During therapy, your child will have a set of specific movements which are performed every day for approximately 5-10 minutes. Each programme is specifically designed for the needs of each child and will evolve as the programme progresses. Both you and your child are guided by your therapist through the full programme and progress will be reviewed with you both at regular intervals. A complete programme generally lasts for between 12-18 months.
Neurodevelopmental Therapy (NDT) is a gentle and comprehensive approach that aids children with developmental delays by promoting nervous system and brain development, specifically addressing lingering primitive reflexes, which plays a crucial role in supporting their brighter and more promising future.
This intervention enhances daily activities and sports by promoting smooth coordination of both sides of the body. Evidence-based and non-invasive, it synchronizes brain hemispheres for cognitive and motor improvements, supporting individuals from preschool to adulthood.
Irlen Syndrome, a learning-related perceptual issue, is addressed by the 30-year-proven Irlen method, offering colored lens treatment. This non-invasive approach targets visual processing and light sensitivity.
Reflex stimulation programs use tailored exercises to address retained primitive reflexes, promoting neurological development and addressing delays in coordination, balance, and sensory perception.
To find out if your child may benefit from neurodevelopment therapy, take our questionnaire here.

"My eight-year-old son was diagnosed with dyslexia. It was an uncertain time for all concerned, although I could get extra learning help for him, it was a struggle, and he was tired of the schoolwork and it caused a few rows. I wanted something therapeutic for him. I heard about Ann. Ann gave him exercises and music CDs to listen to every day. He loved the music. I noticed that he was sleeping better and his schoolwork improved. He is now fourteen and is getting on great, incredibly good results in school and has no issues with being dyslexic. We are both delighted we found Ann." — Angela
